Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Audiences can look forward to learning which adventurers will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
